A Man and his Grill

We've had a good snowfall today. Nothing like the storm that hit the American Midwest, but enough to bring out the snowplows and salt trucks. I walk to work every day because I live close and I enjoy the journey. Another thing I do year-round is cook on my barbecue. It's just a tidier way to grill steaks and burgers. In warmer weather we'll also enjoy our meals out on the deck. Tonight I cooked my "famous home-style" burgers out in the cold and blowing snow. My secret ingredients include a pound of lean ground beef, an egg, a couple of tablespoons of bread crumbs, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a healthy dollop of barbecue sauce. If my son isn't with me I'll also include some finely chopped onion. My son caught me in the act tonight (when he should have been finishing his spelling assignment)...

Tomorrow C will take the remaining burger in to school for lunch. His school is also having a bake sale to raise money for the tsunami victims, so he'll eat well. On the weekend I made a donation to the Red Cross, and we'll probably make another one together to UNICEF.
