It's the little things that count

Time to start coming down from all this political stuff. Here are my most recent quiet moments of pleasure.

I walked home last night very very very late. It was a still night with frost on the grass. Half way home I noticed that the sky was crystal clear, with a bright half moon and a satisfying number of stars visible even in downtown Toronto. I stopped right there and spent a few minutes just standing on the dark sidewalk looking up and enjoying the beauty of the night sky.

As a result of that late night I had a late start today. Walking to work this morning I heard a bird chirping nearby. A quick glance revealed a beautiful sassy little Cardinal about ten feet way from me. We examined each other for a minute before continuing on our respective journeys. Here's a Google image of my little friend. What was up with those pictures of men in funny robes?

I've shared some moments with nice Americans too. After all, 49% of them "get it". Thanks to Mary from my crazy life for a very nice e-mail conversation, and to my friend Angie in Nebraska for showing me that there are many ways to be brave.

  1. Egad Ben. You are an extremely attractive man in all areas. If I were single you'd be in a heap of trouble. ;)

  2. That's a picture of a Cardinal, not of me! :-)

  4. Nothing worse than an anonymous admirer! Still, I'll take whatever praise I can get. :-)

  5. Oh yes, I definitely click on the little 'Anonymous' button before posting. As I said before, I am not single, so therefore I am not. ;) At least you know where I am posting from..
