Rest in Peace

Walking with our Dad
A few hours ago my father passed away. He had been in hospitalised for several months, initially for a stroke. The stroke turned out to have been triggered by a brain tumor that had spread from what had initially been a skin cancer that spread to his lungs and liver. In the end he died in his sleep from a lung infection.

Dad wasn't around much as I grew up and I was often ambivalent about the choices he made, but I admired his intelligence and wit and I enjoyed his company when we were together. We shared an odd sense of humour, so I've lost one of the few people who enjoyed (some of) my jokes.

Listening to: You're Missing by Bruce Springsteen from The Rising.
