Chain of Fools
I'm back from dinner with Sheryl and her sister-in-law, where they're in the middle of a seven day herbal "cleanse". Perhaps I should consider my airport vomiting to be a one hour cleanse? This afternoon, at his request, I gave a Chris a lesson in shaving with his Christmas razor. I tried to capture it on film, but he was too shy...
It always takes me a few days to catch up with the news after a vacation. I see that George Bush has spent a few days clearing brush at his Texas ranch and has a great new plan for Iraq to present. Not holding my breath on this one. I saw Rajiv Chandraeskaran's interview on The Daily Show yesterday. His book Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq’s Green Zone shows just how self-serving, unprepared and incompetent the "reconstruction team" was. George is currently busy replacing his experienced senior staff in Iraq to ensure that there's no annoying reality checks on his "new vision".
Here at home the Conservatives have realised that their climate change "plan" is being laughed at across the board. Just like George they've fired someone, their spokesmodel Minister of the Environment, and are trying to sell the same idea by saying it louder and using more adverbs.
Of course this is all just grumbling. The future of the world as we know it actually rests on whether Apple Computer will launch it's much rumoured "iPhone" tomorrow during Steve Job's MacWorld keynote speech...
