Whatever Happened to Purple Ketchup?

A cold, wet Saturday here. We spent the morning inside, but paused for a minute at 11:11 to honour Remembrance Day. After lunch Chris watched Saving Private Ryan on DVD and then we went to the Club to play some squash. On the way out we decided to have dinner at the sushi restaurant across the street.

While enjoying the all-you-can-eat Japanese buffet the conversation wandered from Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan to superheros and back to Borat... In the course of the evening Chris pondered; whatever happened to purple ketchup? We bought a bottle about four years ago. I suspect that purple ketchup was one of those items that everyone (with kids) bought once and then never again. It reminds me of a range of frozen dinners with similar appeal in the UK that did well in test markets but tanked when widely released. It's not the first purchase that counts, it's the repeat purchases.
