I was at the gym yesterday afternoon, "running" on one of the elliptical machines, with four TV's in front of me. Two were tuned to The Oprah Winfrey Show. I watched idlely for a while, but the blatant commercialism soon disgusted me.In the guise of honouring "True Heroes" Oprah spent the entire show listing "Her Favorite Things 2005". It was like a one hour version of The Shopping Channel with Oprah as pimp. Of course the audience, co-opted Hurricane Katrina volunteers, received everything she was selling in tacit exchange for their frenzied reactions.

I completely agree. You'll notice she won't say brand names and make a little joke about them not paying her so she won't say it. I'm not a fan.
